Aklan is
a province in the western Visayas region and its capital is
Kalibo. It host one of the most famous tourist attraction in
the Philippines -Boracay island, which boast a 4-kilometer
beach with powder like white sand. Boracay beach is lined with
hotels, bars, restaurants and is frequented by local and foreign
tourist alike. Aside form its famous destination and its natural
beauty, Aklan also attracts tourists to the renowned
Ati-Atihan festival in Kalibo held every 3rd week of

Aside from tourism, Aklan
is also the top producer of abaca, the fiber from a
species of banana that is dyed and woven into bags,
mats, rope and other items. Aklan is also a top
producer of piña cloth. Rice and coconut are the
main agricultural products of the province. Several
endangered species are found in Aklan, namely: the
Philippine spotted deer, the Visayan hornbill and
the Visayan warty pig.
